  • WHere can I find you?

We are located in the heart of the beltline at 210 - 11th Ave SW right across the street from the Google campus, IBM and Axia buildings!

  • DO you direct bill?

You bet we do! We direct bill to every insurance company that will let us. Here’s a list! If you don’t see your insurance company email us at hello@eyespyoptometry.com or call us at (403) 474-6744 and we can help out.

As of November 27th 2025, due to enforcement of insurance companies policy changes, our clinic will no-longer be able to direct bill any products sold at our clinic. We are still able to direct bill for eye exams admitted at Eye Spy Optometry, but patients will have to pay and submit for prescription glasses and contact lenses at time of purchase or pick-up. We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to our patients, and encourage you if you are unsatisfied with this change to contact your private insurance directly and inform them. Please contact our clinic if you have any questions prior to your visit.

  • How much is an eye exam?

Annual adult eye exams are $140.

If you wear contact lenses, the exam is $160 to get both glasses and contact lens prescriptions all in one visit.

People 18 and under are covered by Alberta Health Care for an eye exam every year.

As of February 2nd 2025, patients who are 65 and older are partially covered for an exam from Alberta Health, and must pay a $50 co-pay fee for their exams.

We also accept coverage for AISH, AB Works, and refugee coverage.

Health checks are subject to a co-pay fee of $50, as they are only partially covered by Alberta Health.

  • How old should my child be when they start seeing an optometrist?

We recommend that your child’s first eye exam should be at age 6 months (yes, we can do eye exams on kids that young) and then every year after that. As every parent knows kids grow super fast and their eyes can change quickly too. It’s also important to remember that not every eye issue is obvious, and most children don’t know that how they see is different from everyone else. Regular check-ups are important!

  • How long does an eye exam take?

An eye exam usually takes about 45 minutes. If you're planning to pick out glasses on the same day though give yourself a bit more time. You don't want to rush while picking out your new look!

  • How much do glasses cost?

It depends on a number of factors - the brand of lenses you choose, your prescription, the frames you pick. A pair of glasses from us can start as low as $99 to higher depending on what you choose and what is needed.

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY EYES CHECKED?

Every one or two years. Regular eye exams can do more than help you see better. They can identify issues of early on-set blindness, glaucoma and even certain kinds of cancer.
